Not only are more women riding motorcycles, but more are customizing and working on their own bikes.
Ladies – if you have an interest in something out of the norm… its okay – its more than okay… its pretty rad to set your goals and reach for the stars! You don’t need to follow the pack – follow your heart and find what moves you – doing so not only empowers you it inspires and empowers others. Just because a woman wants her own bike doesn't mean she doesn't like riding on the back of yours. It is possible to be co-dependent.
As the number of female motorcyclist increase, so does the number of women who prefer to wrench their own machines. What was once thought of as a mainly man hobby is quickly changing. Women are buying, repairing and modifying their machines to represent who they are.
Women are not only riding and working on motorcycles, they are also competing in motorcycling events and working in the motorcycle industry. This change is also reflecting on how companies market to motorcyclist. Companies are now starting to tailor products specifically for women rather than a one size fits all approach.
It is estimated that women will eventually account for half of the motorcycle riders in the world. Unfortunately all isn't good for women motorcyclist. Many women have complained about being treated poorly in this male-dominated industry. Women are too often not seen as equals in this sport – either talked down to, or not at all. Hopefully this article will shed some light on this area and change the mindset of those who treat women motorcyclist differently. But for women motorcyclist just know you're not alone.
If you're a woman that works on motorcycles and have a story you would like to share we'd love to hear from you. Maybe the next article could be about you. please contact us at, andrew@newmotorcycleriders.com.
