The Three Types of Motorcycles.

The ideal situation is to get one motorcycle that fits all three categories.

For the most part there are really only three types of motorcycles. Buying one motorcycle that fits all three categories is ideal but usually isn't the norm. If you're the real adventurous type there is no one motorcycle that will suit all your needs. In my many years of riding the three types of motorcycles usually cam down to this:

  1. The bike you need. If you're a beginner you may like and want a Harley Davidson Street Glide but depending on your capabilities and learning potential the Honda Grom may be the bike you need at this stage.

  2. The bike you want. As stated above the Harley Davidson Street Glide may be the bike you want but it isn't the bike you need at this stage in your learning. Unfortunately in life our wants and needs don't always line up.

  3. The bike you get or can afford. Now the bike you want just happens to be the bike you need but costs lead you to the bike you get. We've all heard the expression, champagne taste, beer money. Now if the bike you get just happens to be the bike you want and need, you're golden.

Unfortunately life isn't perfect and we sometimes have to make a choice. Nobody can tell you what to buy. This is a decision that is all yours. But whatever bike you end up with, make sure you feel comfortable with it and can control it. The wrong motorcycle at the wrong time in your learning stages can greatly affect how well and quickly you learn as well as put you in unnecessary danger. As always have fun, be safe.
