Your motorcycle isn't the only thing that needs maintenance.
A subject we rarely hear motorcyclist talk about is skin care. Think about what your motorcycle looks like after a day of riding. The bugs, dirt, grit, etc. When riding, your skin is exposed to those same elements. There's the sun, wind, dirt, insects, birds, etc. and the list goes on and on. If you have ever ridden on a hot sunny day with short sleeves you know what I'm talking about. That distinctive change in skin tone where the sleeves stopped and your skin was exposed. A lot of these things go unnoticed by some motorcyclist.
Now not everyone cares about what is happening to their skin. Some look at it as if it's a badge of honor and that's fine. If that's how you feel then this article may not be for you. But if you do care then you should read on.
Leaving your skin unprotected while riding can lead to skin cancer, psoriasis, sunburn, premature aging an other airborne irritants to just name a few. A few extra minutes before and after riding could keep your skin healthy and protected. A good practice would be to wash your face and exposed skin after a ride to clear your pores and remove any particles that may have built up on your skin.
Now there are lots of products out there to choose from so pick what is best for you and offers the most protection. Skin care is not a one size fits all issue.
We'd like to hear from you so please leave a comment or suggestion if you know of products or solutions that work for you and maybe can help someone else.
Well, I never cared, but my wife makes me wash my face with purifying gel and then clean it with tonic. Still don't have idea what it is, but exactly not that tonic that is used to be mixed with dry gin. 😀
P. S. UV cures from psoriasis, not leads to it.
Wearing as less as possible feeling the wind is a great feeling
