What makes one more or less of a motorcycle than the other?
Whoa was probably your first response. But did you really expect the motorcycle industry to not evolve? A lot of our first responses when we see something that looks totally different is to be skeptical, and rightfully so. But don't turn your nose up to them just yet.
If you ask a hundred people what is a motorcycle you will probably get a hundred different answers. This article isn't to determine what is a motorcycle, just to try to understand why there is such a big difference of opinions.
Unless you've been sleeping under a rock you had to see this coming. Change was inevitable, people's opinions not so much. First the definition of what is a motorcycle has to be rewritten. Motorcycles are no longer defined by cc or cubic inches. For the younger, newer riders this isn't hard to understand but for the older riders it doesn't make sense.
Today a better definition of a motorcycle would read: An open air vehicle consisting of less than four wheels which is propelled by an energy source.
What should determine your choice a motorcycle shouldn't be the definition but the purpose for which you want it for. We have yet to drive all of these vehicles but most certainly wouldn't turn down the opportunity to do so.
The most important part of choosing a motorcycle is that it makes you happy. Electric, two wheel, three wheel handlebars or steering wheel, it's your choice. We can't wait to see what the future holds for motorcycles.
