There are a few things to consider when deciding to ride in a group.
Group riding can be fun, taking down a pack of riders because you're inexperienced isn't. Safety cannot be expressed enough here. We focus on building confidence and skills in our FB group, on the website you can explore other options when you are confident your riding skills are enough to ride safely. Don't be pressured into riding with or joining any motorcycle groups or organizations.
Another point to consider when riding in a group is that you will be riding with many different people with varying personalities and riding skills. It's not only your riding skills you have to be concerned with but those around you also. Some groups like to keep new riders in the front of the group so they can keep an eye on them because if anything did happen it would minimize how many other riders may be involved.
Third, know what the group is about or anything else that may go against your beliefs. Maybe hangout with them first before going on any rides to get a feel of the crowd.
These are just few things to consider but make sure you are comfortable with the choice you make. have fun, be safe.
