Read Shay's story of how she got to where she is today in motorcycling.
I began my riding journey in February 2021. I rode on the back of a Harley and it felt so freeing. I didn't imagine I would begin on a sport bike, but I kept hearing good things about the Ninja 400 and decided on it. I hadn't rode a bicycle since 7th grade so I was nervous about balance. Surprisingly I didn't have an issue keeping it upright, even turns were ok. My second time out was disastrous. I didn't understand clutch/throttle/brake control enough. I popped the clutch popped a wheelie and crashed. Pride was hurt mostly. My muffler came apart but I zip tied it back and rode home. Didn't let that discourage me. Got right back on and kept going. In 5 months, I upgraded to a ZX-6R. First thing I noticed was the seat height difference. I'm 5'2 and so had to lower to accommodate. This boosted my confidence. I started doing a few solo rides and it really helped me become more observant, as well as learn my bike more. I'm 10 months in now and just as excited as the day I started!
The start. Kawasaki Ninja 400.
The first night ride.
The upgrade 5 months later. Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R.
Me getting the hang of it.
Mt first long ride. I was out about 5 to 6 hours, yay!
Me today and loving it! Many more miles to go.
